Tawakkal Itu Bukan ‘Nrimo’

“Dan barangsiapa bertwakkal kepada Allah, niscaya Allah akan mencukupkannya.” (Q. 86:3)

Dalam perjalanan  lawatan ke Syam, di desa Jabiah, Khalifah Umar ibn Khattab dan rombongan mendengar kabar bahwa negeri itu sedang terkena wabah sampar. Sudah ribuan orang tewas. Lalu rombongan terpecah dalam dua pendapat. Sebagian menghendaki kunjungan ke Syam dibatalkan saja dan rombongan kembali ke Madianah. Sebagian lagi ingin terus. Bukankah sakit dan senang, hidup dan mati,semuanya dibawah kuasa Allah? Maka berkatalah Umar.” Kita kembali. Untuk apa menempuh bahaya.”

Tetapi, Abu  Ubaida ibn Al- Jarrah menyanggahnya dan mengatakan, “Bolehkah kita lari dari takdir Allah?”

“Kita lari dari takdir Allah kepada takdir Allah,” Khalifah Umar menjawab. Ia eneruskan:

“Misalkan bapak-bapak punya ternak kambing. Digiring ke dua padang. Yang satu penuh rerumputan , yng lain kering kerontang. Bagaimana pendapat bapak-bapak? Bukankah, jika kambing-kambing itu digembalakan di padang yang berumput subur, itu juga dibawah kudrat Ilahi?’

“Memang, kedua-duanya di bawah kuasa Allah,” mereka menjawab.

“Tapi di mana ente semua akan gembalakan?” Umar mencecar.

“Di padang yang berumput subur, tentu saja, Amirul Mukminin.”

Umar tampak belum yakin benar dengan keputusannya. Lantaran itu ia mengizinkan beberapa orang yang , karena yakin kepada takdir pula, berteguh hati meninggalkan rombongan dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Syam.

Tibalah Abdurrahman. Sahabat Nabi yang dikenal sebagai saudagar yang cerdik, baru sampai di Jabiah-dari Madinah-pagi esoknya. Ketika Khalifah memberi tahunya hasil diskusi kemarin, Abdurrahman tiba-tibaa berkata: “Dulu Amirul Mukninin, saya pernah menerima dari Rasulullah s.a.w suatu sabda yang berkenaan dengan perkara ini.”

“Allahu Akbar,” Umar berucap. Nah, silakan sampaikan yang Anda dengar dari beliau itu.”

“Saya mendengar Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda: ‘Apabila kamu mendengar kabar suatu negeri terserang wabah, jangan kamu masuk ke situ. Dan kalau kamu berada di dalamnya, jangan pula kamu keluar dari situ.”

Mendengar petunjuk yang membenarkan ijtihad-nya, Umar tidak menyembunyikan kegembiraannya. Adapun nasib Abu Ubaidah, yang berkeras mendahukui ke Syam, Allah yarham: dia wafat terserang pes di sana.

Kisah Saidina Umar dan rombongan itu merupakan contoh tawakkal yang benar. Yakni, menyerahkan segala keputusan kepada Tuhan, tetapi membarenginya dengan ikhtiar. Jadi tawakkal yang sebenarnya bukan pasrah atau yang kita kenal dengan sikap nrimo.

Seorang laki-laki datang kepada Rasulullah dengan mengendarai unta. Lalu ia bertanya: “Ya Rasulullah, haruskah aku biarkan saja unta ini tanpa ditambatkan, atau kemudian aku bertwakkal saja kepada Allah?”

“Tambatkan untamu, dan sesudah itu bertawakkallah,”  jawab Rasulullah. (HR Tirmidzi).
